WORK.
Zara is a Toronto based artist and graduate of OCAD University. Her paintings follow a poetic theme of life that comes from death, beauty that can come from decay and the relationship she has with nature. With a focus on fungi and the body, her work is both literal and metaphorical. Using different textures and vivid colour palettes, she explores ways of making the abject more intriguing to the audience. Thick applications and free forms often exuding from the body become symbolic of moving forward, freeing oneself and shedding, while also relating to common human emotions and femininity.
